
LYNCHBURG, Tenn. — Raiderettes’ batters came to play on Tuesday night in a District 9A Tournament consolation game against Fayetteville played at Moore County High School – earning themselves one more game and a shot at playing in the Region 5A Tournament. The Raiderettes scored 13 runs on 14 hits to beat the Lady Tigers in just four innings.
The two District 9A teams sat knotted at 2-2 at the end of the first inning, then Moore County took the lead at the bottom of the second inning. A triple by Anna Leigh Ross, single by Bailey Dunn, and single by Tilly Parsons helped Moore County put up five runs.
Their batting prowess continued in the third as they scored seven runs on six hits thanks to singles by Fanning and Kallie Ross, a double by Savannah Rose, and heads up ground out by Ellie Carter that scored one run.
Both Savannah Rose and Kallie Ross connected on three hits each. Whitney Fanning managed two hits and Anna Leigh Ross, Bailey Dunn, Jenny Sanders, Tilly Parsons, and Ellie Carter blasted a run each. Fanning led with three RBIs.
The Raiderettes were a menace in the base path. Carter, Rose, Fanning, and Parsons each stole multiple bases for Moore County. In total they gals in Columbia blue stole 15 bases over four innings.
Kallie Ross earned the win on the mound. She faced 18 batters and threw 65 pitches and an impressive 38 strikes.
The win keeps Moore County in the hunt for a bid to the Regin 5A Tournament. They will rematch against Huntland today (Tuesday, May 7) at 5 p.m.
