EVENTS | Woodbury — An old legend says there’s a headless woman that walks the roads of Short Mountain looking for her head. She’s even been known to get in vehicles of unsuspecting drivers. There’s also a spot on Highway 53 called Dead Man’s Curve where blood stains won’t come off the road … no matter how many times they repave the road.
Are these stories true? No one knows but keep them in the back of your mind should you plan to attend the Short Mountain Haunted Woods host by Short Mountain Distillery on October 18-19, and 25-26. Live actors will portray spooky characters and frights await. The event is PG-13 but can be “terrifying” … so parents should carefully consider if their children are ready.
All proceeds from the annual event benefit the Short Mountain Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary and the Cannon County Rescue Squad. Tickets are $10 per person and the action starts at 6 p.m. each night. The Distillery is located at 8280 Short Mountain Road. Visit the event’s Facebook page for more details. •
