LYNCHBURG — Identity thefts affects over 400,000 Americans each year. It affects credit, causes hours of dispute activity, and causes complicated relationships with the IRS. The good news is there’s a quick, simple, and on June 12 free activity that can prevent it … shredding document containing personally identifiable information.
On Friday, June 12 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. the Jack Daniel Employee Credit Union (JDECU) will host a Free Community Shred Day. The event is free to both JDECU members and the general public. The Shred It truck will be on site and citizens will simply need to pull up, drop off their boxes of paper, and Shred it will handle the rest.
