Tabitha Evans Moore, the former Moore County News editor and publisher, launched a new Lynchburg newspaper on August 10. The digital publication published new content every morning. Content will be available on the newspaper website and pushed to reader via social media.

“We’re going to throw out the traditional rural journalism model and develop a product that works for the way people currently live their lives,” Moore said. “And we’re going to do it while maintaining the highest journalist standards and adhering to the Society of Professional Journalism’s Code of Ethics.”

Moore studied English Literature and Communications at both Tulane University and the University of Alabama. She launched her publishing career at fun & Stuff Magazine in Birmingham, Alabama in 1998. A native of Moore County, she returned in 2005 to take over as editor of The Moore County News — a position she held until 2012.

“It’s crucial that small, rural communities enjoy a local newspaper run by folks who are invested in the community in which they serve,” she says. “The Lynchburg Times will work hard to deliver original reporting and essential information to not only the citizens of Moore County but also to the thousands of visitors who flock here each year.”

The LT will cover local news and events from Moore County as well as regional stories that might be of interest to it’s readers. It will also cover state news that could impact the citizens of Moore County.
