BEDFORD COUNTY, Tenn — One local is dead following a two-car accident along Highway 82 near the intersection of Old Center Church Road on July 4.
According to the preliminary accident report provided by the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP), a 16-year-old driving a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado travelling north on Highway 82 crossed the center line and struck a 2021 Volkswagen Atlas head on.

A 25-year-old father died as a result of injuries sustained in the collision. Local first responders transported another passenger, a 25-year-old female, to an area hospital due to injuries she received during the accident.
The two occupants of the Volkswagen both wore their seatbelts. The driver of the Silverado was not wearing his seatbelt. As of press time, the accident investigation was pending. •
