Local man dies in one vehicle accident on Cobb Hollow Road

Ryan McGee 1991 – 2021

LOCAL NEWS — Late Tuesday night, the Metro Moore County Sherriff’s Department social media and public safety apps announced that Cobb Hollow Road would be closed from Pleasant Hill Road to Flippo Road due to a motor vehicle accident. Unfortunately, that accident took the life of a 29 year-old Lynchburg man.

According to the preliminary accident report provided by the Tennessee Highway Patrol, around 9 p.m. on August 17, Ryan McGee was driving a 1990 Mack slop truck north on Cobb Hollow Road when he ran off the roadway after negotiating a curve. His vehicle struck an embankment, which then caused it to roll. According to the report, McGee was the only person in the vehicle and no other vehicles were involved.

The accident took several hours to clean up and local law enforcement did not re-open Cobb Hollow until after midnight.

According to his obituary, McGee is survived by his children, Oakley Ryan McGee, Bristenn Joe McGee, AnnaLee Dawn McGee and RyAnna Michelle McGee; as well as his parents, Troy McGee and Tammy McGee (Randall Rollins); brother, Elijah Ray McGee; nephew, Brittion McGee; grandparents, Paul Wesley Inman, Kenneth Ray McGee (Sandra Ann), Elizabeth Lynn Oakley (Michael Kim); and the mother of his children, JoAnna McGee.

Visitation with the family will take place at Lynchburg Funeral Home on Saturday, August 21 from 5-8 p.m. and again from 12 to 2 p.m. on Sunday just prior to his funeral. Burial will follow at Smith Chapel Cemetery in Lynchburg. •
