MCMS Raiders beat Bridgeforth 4-3 to snag first ever state tourney win

LOCAL SPORTS | Lynchburg — The Moore County Middle School Raiders beat Bridgeforth 4-3 on Monday. It’s the first ever state tournament win for the middle school boys baseball team. They are now ranked as one of the top eight teams in the state and will move on to the next round this Friday at Lawrence County. Game time is 7 p.m.

The good guys in Columbia blue got the win on Monday thanks to a walk-off error by Bridgeforth in the bottom of the seventh inning that allowed two runs to make it to the plate.

Landon Smith got the start on the mound for Moore County and did the heavy lifting. He pitched three innings allowing one hit and one run while striking out one. Colton Morey came in from the bull pen to pitch three innings allowing one hit and two runs while striking out three. Aiden Webster came into the game in the seventh inning allowing no hits and no runs on 12 pitches.

At the plate, Smith led the Raiders going 2-for-3. Peyton Martin and Bryson Carter also contributed hits. The opportunistic Raiders stole six bases. Brantley Hill and Aiden Webster stole two each.
