LOCAL NEWS — The Metro Council voted on a Metro Beer Board recommendation to extend Sunday beer sales from 12 p.m. to 12 a.m. to 10 a.m. to 12 a.m. When asked about the recommendation, Beer Board Chair Bufford Jennings stated he had, “no strong feelings either way” but had been asked to present the hours change to the board at the behest of a permit holder who believed that the limited hours were causing the majority of Moore County’s Sunday beer purchases to happen outside the county, specifically Bedford County.
The Metro Beer Board also sought County Technical Assistance Service (CTAS) approval for the measure prior to bringing it before the council. The measure extends hours for off premise consumption only. The resolution passed by majority vote. Council member Sunny Rae Moorehead voted no. •
