LYNCHBURG — The Metro Board of Education will meet virtually tonight in a regular session meeting at 6 p.m. Virtual meetings are still open to the general public and login instructions can be obtained by emailing the [email protected]. You can view a full agenda by clicking here.

In new business, the board will consider an Occupational Safety and Health Program Plan for all employees of the Moore County Department of Education including devising rules, regulations, and appointing a safety director. The Board will also consider the addition of a Moore County Volleyball Program and joining a purchasing cooperative.

Director Moorehead will also present bonus plans for Moore County School System employees. The General Assembly and Governor Bill Lee recently allocated $35,500 in additional funding for teachers and certified personnel in the Moore County school system. Director Moorehead and the MCBoE have full discretion as as to how to allocate these funds locally.

Director Moorehead will also name Moore County Schools Teachers of the Year. For MCHS, those teachers are Kim Harvey and Megan Smith and for LES, they are Karen Heflin and Janie Sanders. Director Moorehead also plans to announce Kenna Baumann as the new LES Art Teacher.

He will also give a MCHS construction progress report and present the LES playground project as completed. There will also be an update on the Class of 2021 Senior Trip.
