The Moore County Raiders continued their strong start this past week as they rolled out of Liberty with a 36-23 win.
Showing out was Laken Wade who scored almost half of his team’s points, throwing in 15 to lead all scorers on the night. Wade didn’t take long to be heard as he had three hoops in the first quarter. He was complemented early by a basket apiece from Whit Summers and Brantly Chapin. The early onslaught gave Moore a 13-8 lead after one. Defense was the name of the game in the second as Moore surrendered just one basket to the hosts. Meanwhile, Wade let someone else drive in the second with Grayson Hill, Finn Carney and Summers accounting for the six points.
The third saw Wade lead his team with three points as the opposition sent him to the line for four attempts during the third. He was one-for-four from the charity stripe. Jojo Pettygrue, Chapin and Kurt Smith had a hoop apiece as the Raiders extended their lead going into the final stanza.
Wade did all the scoring in the fourth quarter, accounting for all eight Raider points. He atoned for his free throw shooting in the third by going a perfect four-for-four from the stripe in the fourth.

Raiderettes crush Liberty 44-11
The Raiderettes quadrupled the Liberty output, crushing their opponent 44-11 as they continued their season unscathed.
The Moore County defense was stifling in the first as they didn’t let their hosts breathe, shutting them out on their home court in the first period. Meanwhile the Raiderettes wasted no time making their point as they put up 17 in the opening stanza. Maddie Goodwin was hot early, throwing in a pair of baskets before splashing a three on her way to an eight-point night. Sadie Ivey swished a three and a deuce in the first on her way to leading all scorers with nine on the night. Haven Hornaday joined the early three parade with a triple herself and Addison Brandon popped a two pointer.
Liberty woke up in the second, scoring five. However, Moore County kept laying it on, adding 12 to the board to claim a 30-5 half-time lead. Hornaday had her second three of the night while Madison Hatfield also buried a long ball into the cylinder. Baylee Thomas was two-for-two from the line while Lily Smith had a hoop and harm. Addison Brandon rounded out the first half scoring with a deuce. •
