CHAPEL HILL — Colton Morey and Braden Works will move on to regional play for Moore County golf after the District 11-A Tournament at Henry Horton Golf Course on Monday.
Morey carded a 76 and had the second lowest score of any guy on the links Monday. The only guy that beat him out of a district title was Ryan Hill as he shot one-over-par 73 for the district champion Forrest and Hill earned the district individual title.
Forrest will have a chance to head to Sevierville as a team, by beating Eagleville by four shots, 326-330. Richland finished third at 340.
“I expected for these two guys to make it as they have been my top two players all year. Next year, they will have something to prove and we could have a shot at something,” Moore County golf coach Marty Liles said.
Morey and Works will continue their quest for an individual state berth when they tee off on September 30 after 9 a.m. at the Henry Horton Golf Course in the Region 6-A Golf Tournament. •
