Raider football players and Coach Dobbs win post season honors

LOCAL NEWS | Sports — Based on the number of individual honors the 2019 squad received recently, next year’s Raider football future looks bright. The TSSAA recently awarded all Region 5A honors to several MCHS players, most of whom are juniors.

They named MCHS kicker Chase Bradford (junior) as All Region 5A Kicker of the Year. Bradford made an impressive 29 of 30 kicks during the regular season for the Raiders.

TSSAA also named Raider Tyler Smith (junior) as All Region 5A Running Back of the Year. Smith scored 13 touchdown for the Raiders this season and combined for 1245 all purpose yards.

Other all Region 5A Players included Bryson Dobbs (junior), Donovan Pearson (junior), Kyler Parker (junior), Dylan Scruggs (junior), and Zach Carawan (junior), Mason Pierce (senior), Case Corder (senior), and Brayden Cashion (junior), all received Honorable Mention.

The annual Tennessee Allstar East vs. West game also asked Raider Head Coach Jason Dobbs to serve as an assistant coach at this years game. This is the second time he’s been invited to coach the allstar game. It will be played at Austin Peay University on December 13.

The annual Raider Football banquet will be held on Sunday, December 15 in the LES Cafeteria at 3 p.m.•
