LYNCHBURG, Tenn. — Big bats got on the scoreboard early on Monday – allowing the Moore County High School Raiderettes to pull away for a 5-3 win over the Cascade Lady Champions. Cascade scored a lone run in the first inning and two in the seventh.

Moore County scored all five runs in the first inning. The Raiderettes got on base early with a single by Paisley Logan into center field. Two at bats later, Madelyn McLaughlin hit a line drive into right field, scoring Logan and allowing Anysten Metcalf to advance to second. On the next at bat, Kendall Dangerfield and Metcalf scored on an error by the Cascade right fielder. McLaughlin safely got to second on the same error and then scored on a Neleh Dickey single two batters later.

Logan, McLaughlin, and Dickey all managed one hit each. Logan, Dangerfield, Metcalf, McLaughlin, and Greenlee Ward all scored runs in the game. McLaughlin and Dickey batted two runners in each.

Chloe Brazier got the start and the win for Moore County. She pitched four innings throwing 69 pitches including 37 strikes. Paisley Logan cam in to relieve in the fifth inning – throwing 52 pitches including 25 strikes.

The win improves the Raiderettes record to 5-3. They play a district game at Fayetteville on Thursday at 6 p.m. •
