CULLEOKA, Tenn. — On Tuesday, three MCHS Raiderettes combined for 37 points to hand Moore County a victory in their season opener against Culleoka. Katy Fletcher, Ellie Graham, and Madison Dingler put up over half of the Raiderettes 64 points to earn Moore County a 64-32 road victory.
Despite that fact that it was the season opener for both team, it was the second meeting for the Raiderettes and Lady Warrior with similar results. On November 29, Moore County beat Culleoka 60-35 in a Thanksgiving week tournament.
Raiderettes jump out early and lead down the stretch
Moore County jumped out early on the Lady Warriors — scoring 22 and allowing only three points in the first period. Nearly 12 of those points came from either three-point shots or baskets from the line. The Lady Warriors woke up in the second period, scoring 13 points, but Moore County continued to pace them. At the halftime buzzer, the Raiderettes led 40-13.
Moore County outscored the Lady Warriors down the stretch — besting them by four points in each of the final stanzas to earned a 64-32 road victory.
Katy Fletcher led with 17 points followed by Ellie Graham and Madison Dingler with 10 points each. Other contributing Raiderettes were: Ava Butts (7), Maecy Fletcher (6), Emma Sazonov (4), and Bella Tucker (3 points each), and Anna Harder and Emily Burks added a bucket each.
The Raiderettes will travel again on Thursday with a game at Cascade. Tip off will be at 7 p.m. •
