UNIONVILLE – The Moore County Raiders ruled the roost from the opening kickoff in Unionville as they vanquished the Community Vikings 42-7 to open the season Friday evening.
Cole Taylor set the tone on the first touch of the season as he took the opening kickoff to the house, motoring 92-yards down the sideline to pay dirt. A Jax Ross extra point made it 7-0 with only a few ticks off the clock. Ross would go on to be a perfect six-for-six on conversions in the lopsided victory.

Community went three and out in their first possession of the contest. They would only get one first down in the first half and were never able to break their side of the 50 before half-time. The resulting punt left the Raiders setting up shop at the 50. They then went on a seven play drive with runs by Isaac Petty, Gavin Wise, Tristyn Gray and Taylor before Wise hit Petty on a 10-yard pass and then did the honors himself, running the ball into the end zone to make it 14-0 after the Ross kick.
However, before the rain came, Wise was a perfect five-for-five in the air as he did not play favorites, hitting five different receivers in the dominant performance. •
