LOCAL SPORTS — The Moore County Raiders baseball team showed up and showed out this week with back-to-back shut outs against District 8 rival the Cornersville Bulldogs. On Monday, the Raiders bested Cornersville in front of a home crowd by a 10-0 margin. On Tuesday, Moore County traveled to Cornersville and beat the Bulldogs 15-0. The Ws improve Moore County’s overall record to 4-1 and 2-0 in district play. They are currently tied for first place with Huntland.

Jacob Baker put on a pitching clinic against the Bulldog on Tuesday. The Raider allowed zero runs on just three hits over five innings. Baker struck out 10 and walked one Bulldog.

Gage Burt got the offense started in the first inning when he grounded out, scoring one run. Eight runs in the fifth inning sealed the win for the good guys in Columbia Blue. Dustin Thomas, Baker, Ryder Morey, Austin Kirby, Kaden White, and Will Penn all managed RBIs in the Raiders biggest inning. Chris Martin hit Moore County’s lone home run against Cornersville.

Kaden White led with three hits in four at bats. Baker also led in steals with three. They head to Culleoka on Wednesday for a non-district game. •
