SPORTS — As the season kicks off, sports writers at the Tennessean have decided to rank all the Nashville area high school football teams from 1-129 placing the Moore County Raiders in the #94 spot over all and #7 among Class 1A competitors.
The list (which groups all TSSAA Division I and Division II teams together) places Class 6A Ravenwood in the top spot. The highest ranked Class 1A competitor was Gordonsville at #74.
Among District competitors, Mount Pleasant got the highest rank at #77. The Raider will play at Mount Pleasant in the final regular season game on Nov. 1. Other district competitors were as follows: Cornersville (78), Wayne County (79), Huntland (80), Jo Bryns (98), Richland (121), and Fayetteville (125).
The Raiders face off with Class 2A Cascade this Friday in Wartrace. Tennessean sports writers ranked them #115 overall. In other surrounding areas, the highest ranked team was 5A Shelbyville, which came in at #26 followed by 5A Tullahoma (36), 5A Lincoln County (43), 6A Coffee County (50), and 5A Franklin County (69).
