The Moore County Raiders travelled to the TSSAA Class A State Baseball Tournament on Tuesday and beat South Pittsburg 8-2 to win their first round game. They move on to play the North Greene Huskies (27-8) from Greenville today at 12:30 p.m.
Senior Raiders wore their baseball uniforms under their cap and gowns on Friday so they could face Gordonsville in a sub state game immediately after graduation. They won 9-1 and will move on to play in the TSSAA Class A Baseball State Tournament for the first time in program history on Tuesday at 4 p.m. They play South Pittsburg.
The Raiders ended their regular season in dramatic fashion on Tuesday with a one run win on a walk-off sacrifice fly.
Moore County snagged a district win on Monday beating Cascade 11-1 in Bedford County.
The Raiders got the win over Fayetteville on Monday to move into the top spot in District 8A play. They’ll rematch in Lynchburg Tuesday afternoon.
After an impressive showing at an area NFL Combine, bowl officials recently invited Moore County running back Tyler Smith to play in the Blue-Grey American Bowl on May 17.
The Moore County Raiders ended their season on Monday against Pickett County. They finished as one of the 16 best teams playing Class A ball in the state and the Region 4A champions.
The Raiders head to Cascade tonight for the Region 4A finals game. The winner will host the sectional game next Monday and the loser will travel.
District 8 rivals the Moore County Raiders and Eagleville Eagles met for the fourth time of the 2020-21 season on Tuesday night – this time in the Region 4 Semifinal game. And this time, the Raiders walked away with a 40-30 victory.
