TWRA opens comment period for fishing regulation changes

STATE NEWS — The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) recently opened it’s comment period for proposed changes to the 2020-22 fishing regulations. The comment period will end on September 12.

A couple of the proposed changes included:

• Removing the time of day restriction and one pole limit restrictions on wild trout streams.  TWRA believes that these restrictions are no longer needed for management of these fisheries.

•   Remove the restriction on the dimensions of a minnow trap and add crayfish traps to legal gear for the harvest of bait.

• Addition of Asian carp to Class D bait fish to provide for dead Asian carp to be sold as dead bait by bait dealers.

There were no proposed changes listed specific to Tims Ford Reservoir, Normandy Lake, or the Elk River in specific. For a complete list of changes, visit the TWRA website.
