King’s BBQ wins the 2025 Jack Daniel’s BBQ

LYNCHBURG — They travelled over 500 miles from Jacksonville, Florida and returned home $25,000 richer. On Saturday, Jack Daniel’s Distillery officials crowned King’s BBQ as the 2025 winner of The Jack. Boggs Hog BBQ of Audubon, New Jersey earned the Reserve Champion title and a $10,000 check.

The two were separated by just six points with King’s BBQ Team receiving an overall score of 710.8684 and Boggs Hog BBQ earning a 704.5484. Last year’s Grand Champion, the Scuffletown Smoker came in third with a 703.4400.

Master Series Winners

Bad Bears BBQ of American Canyon, California won the Chicken Category with a perfect 180 score. The rest of the top five were: 2) Kings BBQ Team, 3) Scuffletown Smokers, 4) Slingin’ Meats, and 5) Hot Daddy’s BBQ.

In the Ribs Category, the winner was Kings BBQ Team with a perfect 180 score. In fact, all the top five teams in ribs earned a perfect 180: 2) Grillas in the Mist, 3) Hold Your Horses BBQ, 4) Poppa Pig, and 5) 4 Smokin’ J’s.

Blue Chip BBQ took top honors in the Pork Category with a perfect 180 score. The second-place winner, Mulkey’s BBQ, and third place winner, Cajun Blaze, also scored a perfect 180. Rooter-and-Tooters came in fourth and Iowa’s Smokey D’s BBQ came in fifth.

In the Brisket Category, the Reserve Champion Boggs Hog BBQ won with a perfect 180 score. The second-place team, Dog Bite Barbecue, also scored a perfect 180. Rounding up the top five were Bunch of Swines from the UK, Scooter-n-Clark, and SmellaQue.

Only the Chicken, Pork Ribs, Pork, and Brisket scores contribute to the overall winner’s total score.

Ancillary Winners

In the Sauce Category, Heath Riles of Olive Branch, Mississippi took home first place followed by Smoke Show BBQ, Cook Cartel, Fire Family BBQ PTY, and Rooters-N-Tooters.

The top five in Cook’s Choice and Home Cooking from the Homeland were 1) Bad Rooster BBQ with a perfect 180, 2) Smoked & Furious also with a perfect 180, 3) Kuykendall’s Barbecue Co., 4) B.R.A. Barbecue Team, and 5) LC BBQ.

One of the highlights of the day is always the dessert category and from decadent German chocolate cake to cheesecake topped with bacon this year’s creations did not disappoint. The winner in the Dessert Category was an international team, Cook Cartel from New Zealand followed by Hollow Q, Mulkey’s BBQ, West Texas Smoke, and Tuffy’s BBQ. Not surprisingly, all five teams received a perfect 180 score.
