LOCAL NEWS — The Metro Council will meet in regular session on Monday, November 15 at 6:30 p.m. at the Lynchburg Legion Building located just off the Booneville Highway. There are no public hearing on the agenda prior to the regular meeting.

In new business, the Metro Planning and Zoning Commission will present a revised zoning ordinance for medium to high density housing. The Commission drafted those changes in a nearly two hour long Planning Commission meeting on November 2.

The Commission will also recommend a zoning change to a little over 290 acre tract owned by Brown-Forman from agricultural to commercial. The property is located directly across the street from the distillery’s main campus in Lynchburg. It runs between Lynchburg Elementary and Motlow Barns Road. The back portion approaches Cashion Road. You can view the parcel at the Tennessee Property Viewer website. It is located on Moore County Tax Map 25, Parcel 019.

The Council will also consider the third readings of the zoning ordinances for ground mounted solar and resolutions for the $1.3 million bond for the Metro Utilities Department. That money will be used for a project in partnership with Jack Daniel’s Distillery to upgrade some Moore County water line and build a MUD booster station on Old Fayetteville Highway. Both project will address low water pressure in the south end of the county.
