LOCAL NEWS — According to a preliminary accident report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP), yesterday’s head on collision in Moore County has resulted in a single fatality.

Lauren Burns, age 28 of Belvidere, the driver of the passenger car involved in the accident died Monday as a result of her injuries. Also injured were Lynessa Harper, age 28 of Tullahoma, as well as two unidentified juveniles. All four occupants were wearing their seat belts and/or child restraints.

The four injured were transported via air ambulance to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where Burns later died. Both the driver and the passenger of the semi were treated on the scene.

According to the report, the Nissan Versa driven by Burns crossed the center line and struck a semi driven by Harrison Inman, age 65 of Hunstville, head on in the northbound lane. Neither Inman nor his passenger, Elujah Thomas, age 25 of Huntsville, were injured in the collision

The accident shut down Highway 55 in both directions from Bobo Hollow Road to Cobb Hollow Road for half the day yesterday as emergency management crews cleared until oil and diesel from the roadway. The road re-opened to two way traffic around 1:30 p.m., according to Metro Sheriff Tyler Hatfield..

No citation were issued at the scene but criminal charges could be pending, according to the report.
