LOCAL NEW — Christmas is just around the corner. This means all those shiny new toys will take the place of your child’s Halloween costume as their favorite thing. Rather than send those gently-used costumes to a local landfill or store them away in the back of the closet, why not donate them to the Moore County Public Library (MCPL) for use during their summer reading program?

The the 2020 theme will be Imagine Your Story and will focus on fairy tales and mythology stories. It’s designed to encourage elementary-aged children to develop a love of reading and enjoy free, summer activities.

“We need the costumes for some programs we have in mind,” the Library stated on their social media page.

Donations can be dropped off at the MCPL located at 17 Majors Boulevard. They are open Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesdays from 12-8 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. They close every Thursday and Sunday. •
