LOCAL NEWS — Rain, rain go away the Powder Puff teams want to play.
On Monday, MCHS Athletic Director Josh Deal announced that many 2021 MCHS Homecoming activities would be postponed due to impending inclement weather. According to the National Weather Services Huntsville office, Moore County is one of three southern, middle Tennessee counties under a Flash Flood Watch through Wednesday night. Lynchburg will likely get several rounds of heavy rain that could total between two and six inches over the next several days.
Homecoming ceremonies will take place next Friday, October 15 at 6 p.m. prior to the MCHS Raiders versus Collinwood game at Doug Price Field in Lynchburg.
“Due to the weather, we are moving some homecoming activities to next week,” Said Deal. “We are trying to preserve this tradition without interfering with a region game.”
The annual Powder Puff game will move to next Tuesday, October 12. The seniors versus the freshman game happens at 5:30 p.m. followed by the juniors versus sophomore game at 6 p.m. The winner of those two games will play in the championship game at 7:30 p.m. There will also be a Powderpuff Ceremony at 7 p.m.
The annual Homecoming Parade will take place next Thursday, October 14 at 1:35 to 2:45 p.m. The Homecoming Dance will take place next Saturday, October 16 and the dress will be semi-formal.
