LOCAL NEWS — By a unanimous vote, the Metro Council elected to lower the posted speed limit on Williamson Hollow Road to 25 miles per hour. Prior to the Metro Council meeting, the Highway Advisory Board met to discuss the matter.

According to Metro Sheriff Tyler Hatfield, the genesis of the request were two fold. One, a Metro Moore County School bus recently had a near miss on that road.

“It required drastic maneuvers,” Hatfield stated. “That’s basically a one-lane road.”

The secondary factors included an increased number of children playing in the area and a blind curve.

Williamson Hollow Road is a dead end road of Finney Road. Finney Road runs between Highways 82 and 55. Williamson Hollow’s speed limit was previously unposted, which meant that by default local folks could drive 45.

“That’s just too fast for that narrow road,” added Sheriff Hatfield. •
