LYNCHBURG, Tenn. — More and more people are looking to take charge of their health and the Moore County Public Library’s new program should help. They soon add a new Heart Hub from the American Heart Association. They are the first in our regional library system to have the Heart Hub program. It will launch on December 19.
High blood pressure is often deemed a precursor to chronic disease and the leading cause of heart disease and stroke. In collaboration with the American Heart Association, the hub seeks to provide locals access to blood pressure screening outside a physician’s office.
The Heart Hub is a self-monitoring, education, and referral station designed to allow locals to check, learn about, and take action for their health all in one place. Visitors can check their blood pressure using an easy, automated station. Based on the results, the either learn more about preventative way to keep BP low or get a referral to local resources and health care providers is they need support.
