LOCAL SPORTS | Eagleville — Two teams battling it out for first place … it is a District 8A tale as old as time.
Before their match up on Thursday, both the Moore County Raiderettes (7-4, 3-0) and the Eagleville Lady Eagles (7-3, 3-0) sat pretty with three district wins each. Only one would get that coveted fourth win and top ranking in TSSAA District 8A and that team was Eagleville. They blanked Moore County 11-0.
Moore County just could not generate runs on Thursday. They managed just one hit and zero runs on 16 at bats. Emilee Moorehead provided the lone bright spot with a single in the fifth inning. She led for the Raiderettes with one hit in two at bats. Paisley Logan got the start on the mound for Moore County. The righthander went four innings allowing seven hits and 11 runs while striking out four.
Pitcher Addi Linton got the shut out win for the Eagleville. She allowed just one hit and zero runs over five innings. She struck out four Raiderettes. Eagleville also did not commit a single error in the contest.
The Raiderettes will get a shot at payback on Monday, April 19 when Eagleville comes to Lynchburg to play. •
