CULLEOKA, Tenn. — The Moore County Raiders took to the courts for the first regular season game on Tuesday with a come back 72-62 victory over the Culleoka Warriors.
The win may have felt like a bit of payback for the Raiders as the good guys in Columbia blue lost both regular season game to the Warriors last year. On November 30, Moore County hosted Culleoka and lost 58-50 then they travelled to Culleoka on December 16 and lost again by an eight point margin, 59-51.
Raiders battle back in the second half
Tuesday night’s game looked like it might be headed in the same direction. Moore County earned a two point lead in the first period to lead 16-14. Then, Culleoka battled back in the second period and outscored the Raiders by seven to head into the locker room with a 31-26 lead.
After the break, Moore County came out swinging. They scored 19 while holding the Warriors to just nine points. The Warriors seems to focus in on junior Dawson White in the fourth period — sending him to the line seven time for eight free throw points. At the final buzzer, Moore County notched a 72-62 victory.
Dawson White led with 19 pints followed closely by Alex Copeland with 16 as well as Keller Morey and Peyton Martin with 12 points each. Other contributing Raiders were: Wes Clifton (9) and Will Baker (4).
They travel to Cascade on Thursday to take on the Champions. Tip off will take place after the girls’ game.
