LYNCHBURG, Tenn. — If you’re headed south on U.S. 41A Friday night, plan accordingly.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol will operate a sobriety checkpoint on April 17 beginning at 8 p.m. on U.S. 41A South, about three-tenths of a mile north of the Moore-Coffee County line. Troopers will be looking for signs of alcohol or drug impairment and may address other traffic violations observed during the stop.
State law requires THP to notify the public in advance of roadblock locations, and the agency says checkpoint sites are chosen based on crash and crime data rather than arbitrarily.
The reminder is simple: if you’re drinking Friday night, make other arrangements to get home. A sober ride is a lot cheaper — and a lot less complicated — than what happens if you don’t. •
