The Raiders scored 21 unanswered points in the second half to snag a 34-10 win in Huntland on Friday. The Region 5A win earns them a first round play off game against McKenzie next Friday.
Moore County will travel to Huntland for the Battle of the Blue on Friday. The Hornets are the only things standing in between the Raiders and a late season playoffs run.
The Raiders managed 14 points against the vaunted Bulldog defense but walked away with a 35-14 loss in Cornersville.
It’s Homecoming and the final regular season home game as the Raiders take on Collinwood on Friday in a region game.
The 2021 season made the record books. It marked the first time in the history of MCHS Raider baseball that a team made the Class A State Tournament. The Raiders ended the season with a 22-11-3 overall record and a 9-1 District 8 record. They also added Region 4A winner and state runner up hardware to MCHS trophy case.
The Moore County Raiders travelled to the TSSAA Class A State Baseball Tournament on Tuesday and beat South Pittsburg 8-2 to win their first round game. They move on to play the North Greene Huskies (27-8) from Greenville today at 12:30 p.m.
Senior Raiders wore their baseball uniforms under their cap and gowns on Friday so they could face Gordonsville in a sub state game immediately after graduation. They won 9-1 and will move on to play in the TSSAA Class A Baseball State Tournament for the first time in program history on Tuesday at 4 p.m. They play South Pittsburg.
Later this afternoon, Doug Price Field will be filled with anxious and excited MCHS graduates. And boy oh boy, is this an accomplished group.
This year’s post season play has been a bit of a Groundhog’s Day for the Moore County Raiders. Not only did they face off with Eagleville twice in the regular season but also in three separate games in the District 8A Tournament. And they will head to Eagleville next Tuesday for a Region 5A championship game.
District 8A Baseball Tournament actions starts today. The Raiders will play their first game on Friday at 5 p.m. in Lynchburg.
